GWO Fire Awareness

This course is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills, and understanding to prevent fires, and safely manage the evacuation of themselves and others in the event of a fire in a wind turbine environment. It will also enable participants to extinguish an initial fire using basic handheld equipment if it is judged safe to do so.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to prevent and assess fires, manage the evacuation of personnel, and extinguish fires using the correct fire fighting equipment if the incident is judged to be safe.

GWO First Aid

This course is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills, and understanding to recognise signs and symptoms of life-threatening conditions in a wind turbine environment. Participants will be able to safely and effectively provide lifesaving and other first aid to save lives and prevent further injury until medical assistance arrives.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to recognise life-threatening and other common medical conditions in a wind turbine environment, treat these safely and efficiently until further medical assistance arrives, recognise their limits as a first aider, and identify when and how to call for help.

GWO Manual Handling

This course is designed to enable participants to identify the signs and symptoms of some common musculoskeletal injuries in the wind turbine industry, and give them the skills, knowledge, and understanding to avoid these injuries.

Participants will undertake theoretical training online at their own pace, and then come to a Safer at Work training venue to put the principles they have learnt into practice in a variety of scenarios.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to perform manual handling tasks in a wind turbine environment safely and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, by applying essential manual handling principles.

GWO Sea Survival

The GWO Sea Survival course is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills, and ability to safely work offshore including using PPE and life-saving appliances, the use of location devices and survival techniques when submerged in the sea, and safe procedures for vessel-to-vessel and vessel to turbine transfers.

The overall objective of the GWO Sea Survival module is that participants will be able to act independently to prevent incidents, and minimise the consequences of any incidents by working safely and taking care of themselves and others while working offshore.

GWO Blade Repair

GWO Blade Repair gives participants the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform minor blade repairs under supervision of a more experienced technician, while working in a way that keeps themselves and others safe.

This is a blended learning course, with an onsite duration of 5 days.

The GWO Blade Repair Course has been designed to enable participants to complete basic blade repairs in the wind industry, by giving them the necessary knowledge, skills, and understanding.

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to enable participants to perform and document blade repair tasks and execute work in accordance with work instructions. This is an entry level course, and therefore doesn’t enable participants to perform repairs on major structural blade components such as spar caps or carbon fibre.

GWO Advanced Rescue (Hub) -Initial or Refresher

GWO Advanced Rescue Training sets out to teach individuals to perform entry-type injured person rescue operations in a WTG, using industry standard rescue equipment, methods and techniques, exceeding those of GWO Working at Height.

You must hold valid GWO BST module Working at Heights, GWO First aid and GWO Manual Handling certificates to take this course.

GWO Basic Technical Training - Hydraulic

This course is part of the GWO Basic Technical Training, designed to give an entry-level knowledge of technical systems on a wind turbine. By the end of the GWO BTT Hydraulic Module you will have gained the knowledge and skills to carry out basic hydraulic tasks in a wind turbine environment under the supervision of an experienced technician.
