1. Job purpose: Study earth’s composition/structure etc.; do exploration of metals/minerals; execute grade control and resource evaluation programs.
  2. Qualifications / Experience: Bachelor in Earth Science; 2 years’ experience; experience in open pit or underground settings.  
  3. Skills: Knowledge of health & safety; remote desert environment desirable; first aid cert; working knowledge of deposit types; software literacy (MS Office, mining software like Acquire, ArcGIS, ioGas, Leapfrog, Vulcan, MicroMine, Surpac, Datamine); data management & QAQC; report writing; resource estimation (desirable); English communication. 
  • Levels range from ~2 years (junior / project roles) up to 10-15+ years (senior, section head, lead roles).
  • Field & Mine Experience is important: open pit and/or underground mining geology. Knowing ore control, grade dilution, resource evaluation.
  • Software / Modelling Skills: familiarity with industry tools (Surpac, Vulcan, Leapfrog, MicroMine, Datamine etc.), GIS, resource estimation methods.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): knowledge of and compliance with safety procedures; remote / desert work often part of job settings.
  • Data & QA/QC: good data management, reporting, auditing geological data; ensuring model reliability.
  • Reporting Standards: At senior levels, experience or ability to act as “Competent Person” under reporting frameworks (JORC or equivalent).
  • Leadership & Teamwork: For more senior roles, ability to supervise geologist teams, contractors, coordinate cross-functional interplays (mine planning, operations, etc.).

Communication & Languages: English fluency (often for reports, cross-team work), technical report writing
